Welcome to our Women of the Bible – Old Testament quilt pattern! Each block is focused on an inspirational woman from Old Testament scripture, and we’ll be diving into her history, her struggles, her contributions, and what we can learn from her to apply to our own lives today.
Like our other foundation paper pieced blocks, each Women of the Bible quilt block comes with:
- suggested scripture passages to read
- introduction to the woman in the block, including scriptural and historical information
- devotional based around the faith-filled life she led
- reflection questions to connect her story to our own life
- three quilt block size variations (8×8, 10×10, and 12×12)
- …plus an instructional video showing you how to foundation paper piece if you’ve never done it before. See below for video, and if you’re new to foundation paper piecing, here are my favorite supplies to get you started 🙂
The final quilt suggestion is to create a 3×4 block grid using 1″ sashing and border, but you can rearrange the blocks any way you like depending on how many you choose to make. In terms of fabric requirements, I recommend using either your stash *or* a fat quarter pack in a rainbow of colors (fat quarters) plus additional shades of blue, tan, and brown so you’ll have variety in skin tones and hair colors. Here is the fabric pack I purchased to make this quilt (Kona Cotton Solid Rainbow Pack), and I added in extra fat quarters in blue, tan, and brown as mentioned above. When shopping for skin tone colors, remember to keep them on the darker and not lighter side to be historically accurate.
