I’m excited to share the Rosary Quilt Pattern with you today! This project came about in a beautiful way, and I’m happy to share the story with you below. First up, though I wanted to share some photos and details about this beautiful rosary quilt pattern, which finishes at 39″x39″ making it the perfect size for a baby quilt, Baptism, or First Communion gift! It has a bright, clean, and open modern feel to it; the rosary beads leave plenty of white space for you to add your own custom quilting to the background.
Like many of our patterns, there’s a full video tutorial to go along with this quilt. In the short ten-minute video, we’ll cover fabric selection, cutting tips, how to construct the border, and final quilting.
This gorgeous quilt was created to mirror a traditional rosary. Hail Mary beads appear in medium blue, Our Father beads in dark blue, a Miraculous Medal bead in either light blue OR depicting the medal itself when cut from the Rosary Quilt Panel, and a cross in brown. The round beads are complimented by the angular border, creating the perfect visual contrast. The beads gently move around the quilt, each connected to the one both before and after it. Can I tell you something? The beads that “connect” in this rosary quilt with the gray “thread” of the rosary showing are one of my favorite details! I love how it looks like a rosary, just gently laying down.
The rosary quilt would be complete without this perfect rosary panel, though! This panel was specifically designed to work with this quilt. Two Miraculous Medals appear on the left of the panel, one in tan/gold and one in blue, and are perfectly sized to fit into the Miraculous Medal bead on your quilt. On the right of the panel is a tender description, intended for the back of your quilt, on how to say the rosary. Love this detail so much!
I mentioned this quilt had a special story behind it. A few months ago, a lovely quilter named Patti R. reached out. She had sewn a rosary quilt for her daughter’s friend, who was expecting a baby. Once made, she reached out with the design and a request: while she wasn’t interested in formally writing or offering a pattern for the quilt, would this be something I could do? It was a resounding YES. She sent the files she had created, along with the images below. Isn’t her version lovely? It was a really pretty design, and served as the inspiration behind the quilt you have in front of you today. She even used a piece of t-shirt to make the Miraculous Medal – so creative! Now, with the rosary quilt panel, you too will be able to add in a Miraculous medal of your own.
No pattern is ever released without an amazing team to test it! I appreciate these amazing pattern testers so much; not only do they help make this rosary quilt pattern as perfect as it can be before we launch it, but they put their own spins on the pattern itself which I’m so excited to share with you:

Carol, that’s a lovely idea! I would love to see a photo if you’re open to sharing it once you finish your quilt.
