Aah…there is something about early summer that always makes me want to pull out red, white, and blue fabrics. Maybe it’s knowing Memorial Day and the Fourth of July are right around the corner…or maybe it’s just that feeling of sunshine, slower days, and quilts that feel meaningful in a very personal way. It’s with this summer-filled heart that I’m launching our brand-new quilt pattern: Faith and Freedom!
When I think of our shared faith, I think of freedom, for it in our faith that we encounter TRUE freedom.
Freedom from fear.
Freedom from worry.
Freedom from trying to do everything on our own.
Freedom from the need to impress or be someone we’re not.
Freedom to be the best version of ourselves; the version God made us to be.
Meet the Faith and Freedom Quilt
This quilt finishes at 52″ x 72″, which makes it the perfect throw size for summer! It’s big enough to be cozy on the cooler summer nights, perfect for days at the beach or under the fireworks, and yet still manageable and fun to sew.
It’s a traditional pieced quilt made mostly with half-square triangles and quarter-square triangles, which gives it that classic quilt look while still being very doable. If you’re comfortable sewing straight seams and trimming HSTs, you can absolutely make this quilt!
One of my favorite things about this design is that it’s also a scrap-friendly quilt pattern. The pattern includes yardage, but I’ll show you in the video how to use the scraps you have on hand. If you have a stack of red, white, and blue fabrics sitting in your sewing room (and I think most of us do 😊), this is such a fun way to use them. As mentioned, the pattern also includes full yardage instructions so you can choose your fabrics intentionally if you prefer a more planned look.

A Quilt for Summer Sewing
One of the verses I kept thinking about while I was working on this quilt is:
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” — Psalm 33:12
To me, this quilt is about gratitude. Gratitude for the freedom we have to practice our faith openly, and gratitude for the deeper freedom that comes when we trust God completely. That’s what I hope this quilt represents…not something loud or political, but something peaceful, meaningful, and rooted in faith.
