I love The Good and the Beautiful curriculum. It’s no secret. Whether it’s the art, history, language arts, math…each unit and subject is just wonderful. Here in my home, I’ve also been reading Teaching From Rest, a book by the talented Sarah McKenzie. It spoke to me, so I’ve been working to both simplify, organize, and connect the supplemental work we do in our homeschool…and focus on depth as opposed to breadth. One way I’m planning on doing this is by ensuring each activity we do is tied to the chapter we are studying in history. This way, the art, poetry, and music – all subjects I feel I’ve come up short on in years past – will bring greater insight into what we’re studying and increase the depth of understanding while at the same time giving us an opportunity to grow across disciplines. Since I’m pulling this together for myself, I thought I’d share it here, too, in the event it helped you! Each section includes several supplemental activities that you can use during that history chapter to supplement the work being taught…music, art, poetry, cooking, mapwork, and many other activities will enrich the depth of learning for your student. It assumes you do two lessons per week. As we are focusing on a classical education, the use of books is key to our teaching – so each where to order phentermine online chapter includes books we have purchased or borrowed from the local library (Amazon links are included when available, others can be found at your local library). As this is our work in progress, I’ll continue building and adding to it throughout the year. NOTE: This post is not paid for or endorsed by TGTB.
