Quilt Block: Bishop (Acts 20:28)

Description

This combo applique + foundation paper pieced quilt block pays tribute to the bishop — a spiritual leader entrusted with the care of an entire diocese. As successors to the apostles, bishops carry the fullness of Holy Orders, leading their communities with both authority and humility. The zucchetto or mitre atop their head, the crosier in hand, and the pectoral cross over their heart are all symbols of a deeper reality: their life poured out in service to Christ’s flock. This design reflects the strength, responsibility, and profound faith of the bishop, who follows in the footsteps of the apostles to teach, sanctify, and shepherd in Christ’s name.

Applique piece is small; you’ll applique the top of the crosier/staff. This quilt block is also part of the Called to Serve pattern which includes four blocks (priest, bishop, cardinal, and pope).

This bishop quilt block pattern is designed with the advanced beginner foundation paper piecing individual in mind and includes:
