Description

Inspired by the distinctive role of Cardinals in the Church, this foundation paper pieced quilt block symbolizes the deeper commitment and spiritual authority entrusted to these men. Selected by the Pope, not self-appointed, Cardinals wear red as a reminder of their readiness to defend the faith — even to the point of martyrdom. Their lives echo a humble “yes” to increased responsibility, often behind the scenes, yet at the heart of Church leadership. This block honors the gravity of that call: a sacred trust, not a title of prestige, marked by deep wisdom and sacrificial service.

This Cardinal quilt block pattern is designed with the advanced beginner foundation paper piecing individual in mind and includes:

• a short scripture reading and devotion/reflection tied to the block you are making
• the three foundation templates (8″x8″, 10″x10″, 12″x12″) making it three patterns in one
