“Called to Serve” is a stunning foundation paper pieced quilt pattern that brings together four distinct blocks — Priest, Bishop, Cardinal, and Pope — in a deeply symbolic tribute to spiritual leadership and vocation. Each block reflects a unique role within the Church: the joyful energy of the young priest, the shepherd’s care of the bishop, the quiet sacrifice of the cardinal, and the profound surrender of the pope.

From the vibrant amaranth of the bishop’s vestments to the papal robe that mark Peter’s successor, this quilt tells a story of individuals who said yes to God’s call — not for power, but for service. Designed to inspire prayer, reflection, and gratitude for the spiritual leaders who guide the Church, this quilt is perfect for personal devotion, priestly ordination gifts, or parish celebrations.

Every stitch becomes a reminder: leadership in the Church is not a reward, but a life poured out in love.

Each quilt block pattern, four in total, include a reflection tied to that block’s scripture theme. As you sew, you can reflect on the meaning of what it means to serve in your own life. Blocks finish at 12″x12″ and are foundation paper pieced (one block has a small applique as well). Once you sew all four blocks, they can be combined however you like; sample idea appears in quilt pattern and in images. Each of these quilt blocks are also available individually for purchase.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS: I strongly recommend the Kona Solids Rainbow Pack; you will not need much fabric for these blocks.
