Description
The Bathsheba quilt block beautifully captures the story of a woman whose life was transformed by God’s mercy. Before she was a queen, Bathsheba was a military wife and later a widow, her heart marked by both love and loss. Yet God redeemed her story, blessing her with Solomon who would become the future king through whom the royal line to Christ would continue.
In this design, Bathsheba stands beside the young Solomon, who wears a small crown to represent his future as king. In her left hand, she holds a pitcher of water—a symbol of purification, baptismal renewal, and grace. Once the source of her sorrow, water now becomes the sign of her restoration. Bathsheba’s legacy lives on not only through Solomon’s reign but also through the words of Proverbs 31, believed by many to be the teachings of “the mother of King Lemuel.” She is the woman who taught wisdom to the wisest king.
This foundation paper pieced quilt block invites reflection on redemption, wisdom, and the quiet strength of a woman whose faith endured through heartache and hope. Perfect for inclusion in your Women of the Bible series or as a stand-alone piece of faith-filled art.
