One of the best ways to help children learn is through hands-on activities. My son is just under a year and a half, though, so the types of craft/activities we can do is quite limited. Hey, so is the comprehension sometimes, but we try anyway!
To help celebrate St. Agnes, and give him something new to try/do, I created a lamb shape (no laughing – God gave us all talents, clearly drawing lambs in PowerPoint wasn’t of mine) and, after taping newspaper down to the table, gave him the lamb printable and some finger paint. The rest is history! After painting himself, the table, his shirt, his hair, and the inside of his right ear, we put the lamb outside to dry. You can download the printable of the lamb shown below for free.
Did I tell him the story of St. Agnes? Of course. Did he understand? Probably not. Likely not, actually. Was it still worth it? Absolutely. I believe with children, you never know what will or won’t “stick”. Better sooner than later to begin instilling the values we, as parents, deem important.
